Today we had a bit of a lie in and woke at 9am to go and further explore Plitvice lakes. We took the more popular routes down level with the lakes which mainly go along the boardwalks. The scenery when up close to the waterfalls was beautiful despite the weather not being at its best. The major drawback of this route is that you are very much stuck in with the crowds.
To get to the waterfalls on the opposite side of the large lake we caught the electric boat (price included in the park ticket). There was a queue to get on the boat and the journey was quite slow however our timing was perfect as we avoided a downpour of rain whilst under the boat canopy.
The lakes and waterfalls at the far end of the park were no less impressive and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. We stopped off for some drinks and a bite to eat in the park bistro then went back to the guesthouse to pick up our bags ready for the bus to Zadar.
Our room in Zadar was a very last minute air bnb booking made because our original place had problems with the water pipes. It turned out to be ideal, just around the corner from the bus station (15 minute walk to the old town) it was an outhouse converted into a very nice guest apartment.
We wandered into Zadar old town to find somewhere to eat, we were both craving pizza- well when your this close to Italy!! The old town was bustling. We went past St Donats church and the forum until we found a pizza place.
As it was quite late and starting to rain we headed back to our room and called it a day.
