Indian preparations.

Today the last preparations are going into place for our upcoming trip to India (we fly tomorrow!!!) We have our visas approved and in our passports, I have finished my last pre-holiday shift at work, all the toiletries are collected together in a pile and I have been thinking about what clothes to take, although in traditional fashion none of them have been packed yet. What is it with me and leaving everything to the last minute?

Not everything has been plain sailing during the lead up to the trip as I was admitted to hospital last weekend. I am now on a surgical waiting list but the doctors have told me I should be ok to travel, so my fingers are crossed and I have plenty of medications to take with me, just in case.

For our trip we are joining a small tour group, something I have my reservations about, but I’m sure we’ll be fine. We fly to Delhi and then visit the cities of Jaipur, Udaipur, Agra, Pushkar and Delhi. We have many activities organised for when we are there, the main reason for going though is to experience the celebrations of the Holi festival.

What am I expecting? I don’t really know. People I have spoken to about their trips to India have given me mixed reviews of their experiences. It seems to be a place that you just have immerse yourself into in order to fully appreciate it. From advice we have been given we have stocked up on antibacterial products, tissue, toilet roll and Immodium (again, just in case).

I am so excited, and only a little apprehensive, about this trip and I cannot wait to find myself in an entirely new culture. Bring on India!!

  1. Welcome to India, in advance!

I am sure you would have done enough of research already but in case you somehow have missed it, if you plan to see & enjoy holi, you CANNOT afford to miss Mathura, Nand-gaon to be specific!

Its a different world! And yes, cover tour cameras well during holi 😉

    Have a wonderful stay !

    Cheers!
